Prices come from store websites and from shoppers. Snap a shelf tag and Westie reads the price, the product, the size and even the sale price, and files it against the store you're in. Everyone searching afterwards gets the benefit, and you earn diamonds for each price.
Westie launches city by city, so the prices you see are from stores you can actually get to. Today that's the Cary, NC area (with Apex and Morrisville) and the Naperville, IL area (with Lisle).

Westie asks for the minimum it needs to log a price accurately and show you prices nearby. You can decline or revoke any of them in your device settings.

What Westie does not do.
Westie never accesses your location in the background — only while the app is open and you're using a feature that needs it. It does not read your photo library beyond the individual photos you pick, and it contains no advertising SDKs. It counts how the app is used with Google Analytics for Firebase — never what you search for — which you can turn off in Settings. It does not access your contacts, microphone, call history or messages.
